Outreach & Family Support Program
Advocacy, Caregiver Support, Disability Services, and Family / Parenting
Provided by Semiahmoo House Society
Family Supports and Services: Aims at empowering families to become better cohesive through the incorporation of education, social services and health of families through facilitators to ensure healthy family dynamics. This service is free of cost.
Advocacy & Planning: Offers a group to have self-advocates speak out for clients and others to ensure that their rights and needs are recognized and met. Meetings occur every fourth Monday of the month from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
Snoezelen Room: Provides an environment filled with fascinating visual displays that surround and absorb for children and adults with disabilities, or other limiting conditions. The use of the sensory environments is not limited to people with disabilities, it can be used by all ages and in various specialties including mental health, elderly, head injuries and more. This service is $2 every half hour.
Workshops & Training: Provides internal and external training and workshops including person-centred thinking. The program offers a comprehensive and integrated approach to preventing, de-escalating, and if necessary, intervening when the behaviour of an individual poses a threat of harm to themselves and/or others.
