SMILE (Seniors’ Mind, Interaction, Learning, and Exercise) - Support for Seniors

Provided by Kindwell Care Services Inc.

A series of events designed to support seniors’ cognitive, emotional, physical, and social well-being.
SMILE (Seniors’ Mind, Interaction, Learning, and Exercise) is a structured, community-based engagement series designed to support seniors’ cognitive, emotional, physical, and social well-being. The program addresses common concerns among older adults, including fear of falling, social isolation, loss of purpose, and anxiety about becoming a burden. Through guided, team-based activities, participants engage in light movement (chair-based or standing), cognitive stimulation exercises, facilitated discussions, sensory engagement, and practical learning experiences that can be applied in daily life.

All events are intentionally designed to be inclusive and accessible, including accommodations for mobility aids and wheelchairs. Seniors living independently, in community housing, retirement residences, or attending with caregivers are welcome to participate.

The SMILE (Seniors’ Mind, Interaction, Learning, and Exercise) series runs from March through November annually, with two events per month, each held on a Saturday for approximately two hours. For the initial months, events are planned to be held outdoors in accessible community spaces or parks, taking advantage of the warmer weather. Later in the year, when needed due to colder conditions, events are moved indoors.

Cost: $5–$10 per session. The cost listed is per individual event, not for the entire series. This allows participants flexibility to attend as many or as few events as they wish.

Eligibility: Seniors aged 60+ living in Vancouver, Burnaby, or Surrey. Open to seniors living independently or with mobility support (including wheelchair users). Family caregivers may attend select events. Interested participants may contact Kindwell directly by phone or email to register.
