Income Tax Clinic

Provided by Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society (PICS)

Proogram provides free basic income tax return preparation in Surrey and Vancouver.
A community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), PICS host a free tax clinic where volunteers complete tax returns for people with a modest income and a simple tax situation.

Suggested income levels Family Size Total Family Income
  • 1 person $40,000
  • 2 people $55,000
  • 3 people $57,500
  • 4 people $60,000
  • More than 5 people $62,500, plus $2,500 for each additional person
Family size includes an individual or a couple and their dependents.

The CVITP does not provide training or support for the following complex tax situations: Self-employment income or employment expenses, Business income and expenses, Rental income and expenses, Interest income over $1,000, Capital gains or losses, Bankruptcy in the tax year (or the year before, if that return has not yet been filed), Deceased person, Foreign property (T1135).

Eligibility: To qualify, your income should be as follows.
  • One individual $40,000 or less.
  • Two Individuals $55,000 or less + $2500 for each additional person.
  • Your investment income under $1000

What to bring:
  • Government issued ID
  • SIN number
  • All the T-slips
  • Medical and donation receipts (if any)
