Newcomer Settlement Services
Immigrant and Refugee Services
Provided by Burnaby Neighbourhood House
- Settlement Services: Support with access to eligible benefits and adjusting to life in Canada, basic language translation/interpretation services, and food aid through referrals to community programs.
- Professional Support: Case management, and developing personal settlement plans, one on one or family counselling for emotional and social issues, transitional life skills facilitation and home-visits to support home life.
- Long-Term Community Engagement and Social-Economic Integration: Volunteering and community involvement opportunities, and employment services such as pre-employment readiness career planning, employment connections, resume writing, and connections with vocation training opportunities. All while promoting and sharing your cultural values and experiences while contributing to an inclusive Canada
- Referrals to In-House Programs and Resources for all age groups: including children, pre-teen, youth, seniors, families, to address all health and wellness needs.
Be sure to refer to the calendar of events for regular updates on new workshops and programs including Christmas events like Posada NavideƱa; mental health workshop series; conversation groups in other languages; multi-cultural family place drop-ins; and the new Neighbours Podcast. All programming is free of cost, but most do require registration in order to attend.
