Outpatient Nutrition Counselling

Outpatient Dietitian services available by Physician referral.
Services are provided for patients that require medical nutrition therapy to prevent or treat nutrition-related concerns. The outpatient dietitian service is for patients who are malnourished or at nutrition risk. Screening questions for malnutrition risk are now mandatory to facilitate the triage of referrals.

Services

Individual Nutrition Counselling:
  • Initial Consultation: (50 minutes) – available via telephone, video or in person (upon request)
  • Follow-up : (25 minutes) – available via telephone, video or in person

    • Appropriate referrals for individual nutrition counselling include:
    • Adults (18+): peri-operative nutrition (e.g. esophagectomy, wound healing, ostomies), digestive issues (eg. Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Celiac disease, unintended weight loss and malnutrition, poor intake, home tube feeding, dysphagia, cardiovascular disease.
    • Pediatrics: (1 – 17 years): poor growth, picky eating or food allergies, celiac disease


      • Group Education Classes:
      • Celiac:(Gluten-free eating) (60 minutes) – virtual class offered monthly
      • Heart Health: (120 minutes) – virtual class offered monthly




        • Note: Wait time for referrals is 2-3 weeks. Wait time for group classes is 1 month.
